Sun over Aalborg

Created on my Wacom tablet.
This piece examines my own personal joy experienced when the sun breaks through the clouds here in Aalborg, Denmark. The dreariness bound by the constant cloud cover is instantly lifted in the star's presence.

The dark clouds above are there for the contrasting elements in the weather, as the countryside and contrasting city looming in the distance display the different human environments.

The colors are both warm and inviting, but also very grey and cool, expressing my own views of Aalborg. It is a contradictory place containing both elements of glee and melancholy and toys with each personality seemingly at random.
